The Lazy Manhattan

As simple as the Manhattan cocktail is, there is still a host of ways to mess one up. And often you find yourself in bars that may not have the best ingredients. Those dried old neon red cherries are not a good sign. You can imagine that the bars one bottle of vermouth may have been open since the late 1970's.

But most bars now have a fine selection of rye and bourbon. If you can squeeze a few drops out of a crusty old bottle of angostura, you have yourself a lazy Manhattan.

Lazy Manhattan
2 1/2 oz Rye (go for the good stuff)
2-3 dashes of bitters
Cube of ice for dillution and chill
